A birthday celebration that took place recently in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, ended in a horrific accident. A woman named Giang experienced a massive explosion when the candles on the cake she was holding during the celebration came into contact with a hydrogen-filled balloon in her other hand. As a result of the incident, Giang suffered second-degree burns on her face, hands, and arms.
Giang, who was taken to the hospital, said she could not watch the footage of the incident due to the fear she experienced. "If I had known, I would not have put myself in such a dangerous situation. Let my unfortunate incident be a lesson to other people," she said.
Experts point out that hydrogen gas is cheaper than helium but is extremely flammable, noting that it carries a high risk of explosion when it comes into contact with fire. For this reason, they warn that hydrogen balloons should not be used in indoor spaces or for entertainment purposes.
