Israel’s attacks on the Gaza Strip continue on their 22nd day. As Israel intensifies its bombardment of the northern Gaza Strip, all eyes have turned to the planned ground operation in the region.
EMPHASIS ON HOSTAGES FROM ISRAEL
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a press conference held in the evening that the second phase of the operation had begun following the intensified airstrikes last night. Stating that Israel’s goal is clear, Netanyahu said, “Our goal is to destroy Hamas’s military and administrative capabilities and to bring the hostages home. Our commanders and soldiers know that the Israelis are behind them.”
Quoting from the Bible by recalling the events between the Amalekites and the Israelites, Netanyahu said, “We remember and we fight. Our only goal is to defeat Hamas and ensure our existence in our land.”
FULL SUPPORT FROM WESTERN STATES
Stating that Israel is fighting for all of humanity, Netanyahu said, “Our allies in the West and the Arab world know that if we do not win, they will be next.” Referring to the visits of the leaders of the US, UK, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, Greece, and other countries, he said, “They brought a clear message: We support you and we expect your victory.”
Netanyahu stated that the operations in the Gaza Strip would be long and difficult, saying, “The first phase was to conduct a massive air operation to help our ground forces enter safely.” Using the phrase “We are the ones who will win,” Netanyahu declared, “We are only at the beginning of the road.”
