According to initial reports, 59 people lost their lives in the blaze, which broke out while more than a thousand people were inside. Authorities fear that the death toll may increase.

THOUGHT TO HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY LIGHTING EQUIPMENT

It is estimated that the fire was caused by a short circuit in the lighting and stage equipment used during a concert held at the club. The flames spread in a short time, engulfing the club's ceiling and roof. Hundreds of people who were enjoying themselves inside at the time rushed toward the exits in a panic, but many were unable to escape due to the rapid spread of smoke and flames.

PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE LAUNCHES INVESTIGATION

The North Macedonia Prosecutor's Office has also launched an investigation into the incident. The statement noted that in addition to the cause of the fire, the adequacy of the club's safety measures is also being investigated.

Following the tragedy, the city of Kočani has been plunged into mourning, while the treatment of the injured continues in hospitals.
