Speaking at the National People and Defence Conference held at the Salen military base in the Dalarna region, Bohlin stated that Russia must be taken seriously, saying, "There could be war in Sweden, and our people must be prepared for war."

Pointing out that Sweden has not been at war for 210 years, Bohlin noted the following:

"As a result of Russia's attack on Ukraine, the security situation in Europe, which was already poor, has worsened further over the past year. Russia's rapid rearmament must be taken very seriously.

For about 210 years, peace has been a pleasant companion for the Swedish people. However, this situation has changed today, and the security situation has deteriorated.

As a responsible minister, I must explain this reality to the Swedish people."

Stating that the Swedish government is trying to increase the country's defense capability by creating mental awareness that the country could enter a war, Bohlin also said that they are taking Ukraine's resistance against Russia as an example.
