War warning from Iranian commander: Front could expand to the Indian Ocean

Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi, a military advisor to Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, made striking remarks regarding a potential new war scenario with the US and Israel.

Speaking to the Iranian press, Safavi said they do not know the plans of Washington and Tel Aviv regarding whether they will start a new war, but that the Iranian Armed Forces are preparing for "worst-case scenarios."

Safavi stated that if the US and Israel were to attack Iran's national centers or interests again, the conflict zone could spread to a wider front. The Iranian commander said, "If the Americans and Zionists attack our national centers and interests again in any way, this time the war front will be wider."

Pointing out that the war had previously been on the agenda along the axes of the Persian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz, and the Red Sea, Safavi argued that in a possible conflict, it is possible for the front to move to the Indian Ocean or other regions.

Safavi also stated that Iran would manage the Strait of Hormuz "entirely under its own control," adding that the strait "will never be the same again." Expressing that they had reached an agreement with Oman regarding the Strait of Hormuz, Safavi noted that the agreed-upon mechanism could not be implemented due to US obstacles.
