A jet-type air ambulance belonging to the company Jet Rescue Air Ambulance crashed into residential areas between Roosevelt Boulevard and Cottman Avenue in Philadelphia. All flights in Philadelphia have been temporarily suspended.

Police teams arriving at the scene have closed the area where the crash occurred to entry and exit. According to information in the US press, the Jet Rescue Air Ambulance company stated that there was a pediatric patient on board the aircraft at the time of the crash.

Initial reports suggest that the jet was performing a landing maneuver during the crash. It was learned that the child being transported on the plane was a Mexican national who had come to the US for medical treatment.

According to information provided by NBC News, there was also a person accompanying the child and 4 crew members on the plane. Numerous ambulances were dispatched to the area where the plane crashed. According to local media, ambulances evacuated a large number of injured people from the scene.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced that the Learjet 55 aircraft had departed from Northeast Philadelphia Airport, bound for Springfield-Branson National Airport in Missouri. Meanwhile, the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that everyone on the plane was Mexican.

Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker made a press statement following the crash. In her statement, Parker noted the following:

''A civilian air ambulance jet crashed into the area located between Roosevelt Boulevard and Cottman Avenue. The plane belonged to the company Jet Rescue Air Ambulance. We have determined that the jet struck at least several vehicles that were in transit at the moment of the initial impact, as well as apartment blocks located in the area.

We do not yet know how many people were affected by the incident. I am warning people not to come to the area. Do not come here. Residents in the area are being evacuated. If you see anything that might be related to the crash (such as aircraft parts), do not touch it and notify the authorities immediately.''

Parker added that the area remains an active crime scene. The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have launched an investigation into the crash. Authorities are not permitting entry to the scene.

It is known that aircraft turn off their radar and collision avoidance systems during landing and takeoff. If initial reports are accurate, the civilian jet that crashed today was performing a landing maneuver with its collision avoidance systems turned off, similar to the passenger plane involved in the crash in Washington.
