White House: Trump had a very good and productive call with Zelenskyy

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt made statements regarding the call between Trump and Zelenskyy during a press briefing.

Leavitt said, "President Zelenskyy called President Trump to say that the rare earth elements agreement had passed the Ukrainian Parliament. I spoke with the President about this call. He said it was a very good and productive conversation."

Stating that she believes the rare earth elements agreement is a very good deal for both the U.S. and Ukraine, the spokesperson expressed that the agreement would benefit the people of both countries.

Noting that Trump and Zelenskyy also discussed the Russia-Ukraine ceasefire process, Leavitt added, "We hope that both countries will agree to a ceasefire next week."

U.S. President Trump announced in a statement yesterday that the rare earth elements agreement between the U.S. and Ukraine had been officially signed and entered into force.

Trump had stated, "We have just concluded a rare earth elements agreement with Ukraine that has also been fully approved by their legislative bodies. The agreement is now signed and approved; we now have access to a very large amount of very high-quality rare earth elements."

A memorandum of understanding had been signed between Ukraine and the U.S. on April 18 within the framework of the rare earth elements agreement.
