Australian water polo coach Lilie James has been beaten to death in Sydney, Australia.
The murder suspect is alleged to be 24-year-old Paul Thijssen, a Dutch national who worked as a coach at the same private school where 21-year-old Lilie James coached water polo.
Australian media reported that Lilie James's body was found inside the St Andrew’s Cathedral School building with horrific head injuries.
The cause of Lilie James's death will be determined following an autopsy, but police have ruled it a homicide due to the horrific nature of her injuries. The alleged killer, Paul Thijssen, called the police four hours after the girl's death to report the body.
MURDER WEAPON FOUND IN DUMPSTER
Investigators traced Paul Thijssen's call to the vicinity of 'The Gap' cliffs in Vaucluse, where they found his backpack and personal belongings.
Additionally, a hammer, which may have been the weapon used to kill the water polo coach, was found abandoned in a dumpster near the school.
