Zelenskyy's accusation: China has become a puppet in Russia's hands

Speaking at the Shangri-La Dialogue, an international security forum held in Singapore, Ukrainian President Zelenskyy alleged that the Beijing administration is pressuring leaders and officials of countries over which it has influence to support Russia's efforts to sabotage the conference.

The Ukrainian leader stated, "Russia, using China's influence in the region and Chinese diplomats, is doing everything it can to disrupt the conference."

Emphasizing that it is unfortunate for a large, independent country like China to turn into a tool in the hands of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Zelenskyy said, "This is not just supporting Russia, this means supporting the war."

There has been no statement from China regarding Zelenskyy's allegations yet.

CHINA WILL NOT BE AT THE CONFERENCE

China had announced that it would not attend the Ukraine Peace Conference scheduled for June 15-16 in Switzerland, citing that the meeting did not meet its expectations.

Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning had argued that a peace conference to be held for the resolution of the Ukraine crisis should be recognized by both Russia and Ukraine, ensure the equal participation of all parties, and discuss all peace plans, asserting that the meeting, to which the Moscow administration was not invited, did not meet these expectations.

Spokesperson Mao had stated, "Due to the gap between the principles advocated by China and expected by the international community, and the meeting arrangements, it will not be possible for China to participate in the conference."
