CHP appeals to the Constitutional Court: Regulation on 5,000 lira payment to retirees should be annulled

CHP Group Deputy Chairman Gökhan Günaydın, in a press statement made at Ahlatlıbel Park across from the Constitutional Court, stated that under the Law No. 7464 on the Rental of Residences for Tourism Purposes and Amendments to Certain Laws, working retirees would not be able to benefit from the 5,000 lira payment to be made to retirees.

Recalling claims that money could not be given to retirees due to budget insufficiency, Günaydın assessed that condemning retirees to live below this hunger threshold is clearly an act of cruelty.

"A PRACTICE CONTRARY TO HUMAN RIGHTS"

Stating that the 5,000 lira to be paid to retirees is insufficient, Günaydın argued that not making a payment to working retirees is a practice contrary to human rights.

Stating that as the CHP, they had offered all kinds of opposition while this law was passing through the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM), Günaydın noted that they would apply to the Constitutional Court for the annulment of the relevant regulation contained in Law No. 7464.

Following the statement, Günaydın submitted the annulment petition to the Constitutional Court.
