Citizens are wondering: What will year-end inflation be?

The September results of the Turkey Household Inflation Expectation Survey (TEBA), prepared by Koç University and Konda Research, have been announced.

According to the survey, the household year-end inflation expectation was recorded at 94 percent. While this rate showed a 2-point decrease compared to August, the 12-month forward-looking inflation expectation fell to 96 percent.

MARKET AND FOOD PRICES ARE THE DETERMINING FACTORS

It was stated that market and food prices are the most influential factors in shaping household inflation expectations.

Although expectations showed a slight decline in parallel with the price fluctuations experienced in recent months, the inflation expectation of retirees remained above that of other groups.

RETIREES' EXPECTATION IS 107 PERCENT

When examined by employment status, retirees stand out as the group with the highest rate, with an inflation expectation of 107 percent. Retirees are followed by the worker, tradesperson, and farmer group with an inflation expectation of 98 percent.

The expectation of housewives was determined to be 95 percent, the unemployed at 94 percent, and white-collar workers at 92 percent. The lowest expectation was among students, which stood at 90 percent.

LARGE GAP WITH THE CENTRAL BANK

While the 12-month forward-looking inflation expectation in the TEBA survey was determined to be 96 percent, this rate was 71.6 percent for households according to the Central Bank's "Sectoral Inflation Expectations" survey. This difference shows that expectations between the two surveys diverge by 24.4 points.
