Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor and CHP presidential hopeful Ekrem İmamoğlu was detained at his home this morning.

Dilek İmamoğlu stated that police teams arrived at their home in the early hours after suhoor, expressing that the process was unlawful and contrary to the principle of a fair trial.

Dilek İmamoğlu described the moments they experienced to Now TV as follows:

"They came after suhoor in the morning. There was a process for Ekrem to get ready. My daughter was at home; I got her ready for school and sent her off. I would like to thank the police officers who arrived; they all performed their duties politely. They finished their work around 7:30. Ekrem spoke with his lawyer. I believe there was a situation regarding some dirty information."

"We are going through an irregular process. Today, whoever you ask in the world, even a child on the street would call this 'nonsense.' We are still a state of law on paper, but this is what we are experiencing. They take you in first, then try to manufacture evidence."
