Following Akşener's meeting with Erdoğan, Özdağ's past statement becomes a hot topic

Following Akşener's meeting with Erdoğan, Özdağ's past statement becomes a hot topic

While the details of the meeting Akşener held at the Presidential Palace and the topics discussed there remain unclear, the Meral Akşener camp is not making any statements regarding the matter.

Most recently, it was claimed that IYI Party member Burak Akburak had stated that 'Akşener is ready to take on a role in the state,' but Akburak shared a post denying that he had made such a statement.

While the details of former IYI Party Chairwoman Meral Akşener's visit are being wondered about, the intimate photos from the meeting and the noteworthy statements have brought to mind the remarks made by Victory Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ to Fatih Portakal on March 8, 2023, before the presidential elections.

In this statement, Özdağ can be seen saying that if the People's Alliance (Cumhur İttifakı) won the elections, Akşener would reach an agreement with Erdoğan. Although he could not have foreseen that Akşener would step down as IYI Party Chairwoman, it is highly remarkable that Özdağ predicted such a rapprochement after all these statements.

Özdağ uses the following expressions in the video:

"If Erdoğan emerges as President, the government or power structure to be established after the election will be in the form of AKP, IYI Party, and MHP. I know this will happen"
