Özgür Özel's call to Erdoğan regarding the Madleen!

The treatment of Manisa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ferdi Zeyrek, who was electrocuted, continues in the intensive care unit of Manisa Celal Bayar University Hafsa Sultan Hospital.

At noon, the hospital's chief physician, Prof. Dr. İsmet Topçu, reported that there had been no positive or negative development in Zeyrek's condition.

Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel and Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Vahap Seçer made a statement in front of the hospital where Zeyrek is being treated.

Vahap Seçer said, "The chief physician announced the latest developments at noon. We hope that our Mayor Ferdi will overcome this difficult process. Today, our mayors, deputies, and party organization heads are all together, and we are by our chairman's side. As always, we will overcome these difficult days together."

Özgür Özel stated the following:

"Since the first day, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Cemil Tugay has been here with us. Almost all of our deputies are here on a rotating basis. Manisa Celal Bayar Hospital is fighting with all its might. It is constantly being asked whether he will be transferred to another hospital. If we asked Mayor Ferdi this question, he would give the answer I would give. If we do not treat our own patient in Manisa; how can we tell an engineer coming to Manisa, 'Don't live in İzmir, live in Manisa, everything is in Manisa'? We have entrusted our loved ones and our own lives to our hometown and to the staff of Celal Bayar University Hospital, in whom we have great faith, and we are doing the same today.

Our former Minister of Health, Fahrettin Koca, chief physicians at various hospitals, and our valued friends are calling constantly and expressing that they want to provide any contribution they can. Their suggestions are being conveyed here, of course, and are being discussed. Of course, if there were a situation where a transfer would be beneficial and the hospital said, 'There is a situation here that exceeds our capabilities,' we would evaluate it, but they state that there is no need for any transfer at the moment. As both the Zeyrek family and the CHP family, we abide by this medical opinion and we are here. We need everyone's prayers."

Responding to a question about the Madleen ship, Özel said, "Under normal circumstances, we do not take any political questions here, as you know, but this issue is one that truly breaks all of our hearts. There is an Israeli madness that does not allow 12 unarmed activists to send pasta. I will thank Mr. Erdoğan no matter how harsh he is. It is time to stop pretending and time to respond to Israel. Let them do what is necessary, and we are behind them like a rock."
