Rosneft CEO Sechin: "More than 75 million tons of Russian oil shipped to China this year"

He stated that Russia's oil shipments to China have increased by 25 percent since the beginning of 2023 compared to the same period last year, exceeding 75 million tons.

Igor Sechin, CEO of Russia's largest oil company Rosneft, spoke at an event held in China's capital, Beijing.

Explaining that Russia is supplying oil to China securely in the context of developments in the Middle East, Sechin said, "Oil is being shipped via the Eastern Siberia-Pacific Ocean pipeline. This appears to be a much more reliable route compared to tanker transport via the Strait of Hormuz or the Suez Canal, due to increasing geopolitical instability in the Middle East."

SURPASSED SAUDI ARABIA

Pointing out that Russia's oil shipments to China continue to increase, Sechin stated, "More than 75 million tons of Russian oil have been shipped to China this year, which is 25 percent more than last year."

Sechin emphasized that as of the first 8 months of this year, Russia has risen to the position of the country that performs the most oil shipments to China, ahead of Saudi Arabia.

Russia's oil shipments to China increased by 28 percent in 2022 compared to the previous year, reaching 89 million tons.
