In Van, the search for 21-year-old university student Rojin Kabaiş, whose mobile phone was found on the shores of Lake Van after she left her dormitory, continues for the 7th day.

Rojin Kabaiş, a first-year preschool teaching student at the Faculty of Education at Van Yüzüncü Yıl University (YYÜ), had come to Van from Diyarbakır after enrolling at the university.

After eating dinner at the dormitory where she was staying on September 27, 2024, Kabaiş left to go down to the shore of Lake Van and has not been heard from since.

According to camera footage from the day of the incident, Rojin Kabaiş was seen having a video call with her mother on the road and subsequently making a purchase at a kiosk.

After reaching the shore, the young girl sat on a bench for a while watching the lake, but disappeared the moment she moved out of the cameras' field of view.

Following the disappearance of Rojin Kabaiş, the Van Police Department, Gendarmerie Coast Guard, AFAD, and fire department teams have been mobilized.

While land searches by riot police units and search dogs continue along the shores of Lake Van, gendarmerie, police, AFAD, and fire department teams are continuing their efforts on the lake with boats and vessels for the 7th day.
