65-year-old woman lights flare and locks herself in room at German hospital
A woman entered the Luisen Hospital in the German city of Aachen, lit a flare, and subsequently locked herself in a room. It was reported that the 65-year-old woman lit the flare after entering the hospital, threw it into the operating room area, and then locked herself in a patient room.
Due to reports made to the police suggesting that an armed individual was holding people hostage, a large number of police and fire department teams were dispatched to the scene.
The police later announced in a statement that a 65-year-old woman had been taken into custody and that there were no injuries.
While no explanation was provided as to why the incident occurred, it was stated that evacuated patients have begun to be readmitted to the hospital.
