DEM Party MP comments on 'new solution process' debates: 'Something is cooking, but it's early...'

DEM Party MP comments on 'new solution process' debates: 'Something is cooking, but it's early...'

DEM Party MP Cengiz Çandar commented on the developments as the question of 'is a new solution process beginning?' has started to be debated in politics following the statements made by AKP President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli.

Speaking to Ceren Bayar from Gazete Duvar, Cengiz Çandar said, "Let us recall the 'Oslo Process,' which dates back to 2006, began in 2008, and collapsed during the 2011 elections, and the 'Solution Process' that we all remember, which began at the end of 2012, was built upon Abdullah Öcalan, and in which HDP MPs also played a role. Looking at the backgrounds of these two periods and the statements made regarding the current signs, can this be called a solution process? I am not very sure. So far, there does not appear to be a mechanism similar to the solution processes in Turkey or the world."

Çandar said the following:

"If you ask 'Is something cooking, is there something?', yes, there is something cooking, but it is too early to call it a 'solution process.' It looks like we are at the very beginning of the period of 'exploratory talks,' to use a phrase very popular in Turkey."

"ARE THEY TRYING TO INDUCE A PREMATURE BIRTH?"

Stating, "If we look at the article by journalist Amberin Zaman published in Al-Monitor, there is something more than just laying the groundwork," Çandar said, "Amberin is a very valuable colleague of ours. I have never witnessed her writing for manipulative purposes. When I read the article very carefully, I was able to guess more or less who the sources were. Therefore, I have no doubt about the validity of the information provided in Amberin Zaman's article."

Çandar continued as follows:

"But there is another debate: Are those speaking in that article trying to induce a premature birth? Or are they really trying to create a preliminary preparation? It is impossible to know this at this point."

"WE CAN SEE THAT SOMETHING IS COOKING"

Evaluating that "If we take Amberin Zaman's article as a basis, two concrete points are emphasized in that article. One; the state is negotiating with Öcalan. Two; there is communication between Öcalan and Qandil. Of course, this is also provided by the state," Çandar said the following:

"When all of these are combined with the words chosen by Nationalist Movement Party Chairman Devlet Bahçeli in his speech at the group meeting, and the words chosen and sentences constructed by President Erdoğan in the speech he made at his own party's group meeting immediately afterward, we can see and feel that something is cooking.

Are the stones being laid, or are stones being sought to be laid? At least from where I stand, I cannot see this clearly. That is why I am of the opinion that it is early to use the expression 'solution process' and that one should be cautious about this matter."
