First statement from Gökhan Özbek, whom Özgür Özel said he would sue: 'I will pay any price'

It has been reported that CHP Chairman Özgür Özel has both filed a criminal complaint and initiated a lawsuit for damages following allegations that he had an affair with Manisa Şehzadeler Mayor Gülşah Durbay.

Journalist İsmail Saymaz reported that the CHP leader called former chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu and said, "Three people from your circle played a role in this discrediting operation."

Journalist Gökhan Özbek, who was stated to be among these individuals, responded to the allegations by making a statement on his social media account.

Özbek said, “I have not been a part of the dirty politics conducted against Özel, and I never will be! I have a political and legitimate opposition to him, and I express this with pride.” Özbek also emphasized that he has no connection to the allegations.

I HAVE DISAGREEMENTS WITH MR. ÖZEL

Stating that he called journalist İsmail Saymaz and CHP Group Deputy Chairman Ali Mahir Başarır to explain the situation, Özbek said, "Mr. Özel and I have political disagreements with his politics, and we will continue to have them, and I fight for this with pride. But if the slightest connection of mine to these immoral allegations is found, I am ready to pay any price."

'I DID NOT GIVE INSTRUCTIONS TO ANYONE'

In the statement he made on his social media account, Özbek said, "I do not know the people who made the news in the below-the-belt operation against Özel, and I did not carry this news to Record Haber, which I own. Furthermore, I did not give any instructions regarding such news."

Finally, addressing Özel, Özbek said, “Instead of complaining about me to third parties, he could call and ask,” suggesting that he was misinformed and that Özel acted without listening to the parties involved in the matter.

Özbek stated that he would continue his political struggle but would not be a part of dirty underhanded games.
