Mansur Yavaş calls for 'early elections': 'If there is no rule of law, there is no bread'

Following its 21st Extraordinary Congress, the CHP held a "Standing Up for the National Will" rally. In his speech at the rally, Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş emphasized that the cause of the poverty experienced in the country is lawlessness, noting that the path to reaching better days lies in the rule of law and an independent judiciary.

Yavaş stated the following:

"Today we convened the 21st Extraordinary Congress, and here our Chairman Özgür Özel was re-elected as chairman. First of all, I congratulate him. I wish for this congress to be beneficial for the Turkish nation. There is only one reason for these difficulties we are facing today and for this extraordinary congress we held so quickly: the lawlessness we are experiencing in our country. The entire Turkish nation is suffering the grievances and the consequences of this lawlessness. While food prices are falling all over the world, access to food is becoming difficult in Turkey. While energy and natural gas prices are falling all over the world, in Turkey, on the contrary, there has been a 25 percent hike in the energy we use at home. Lawlessness is damaging us everywhere. We must do our best to ensure democracy and the rule of law as soon as possible. The way to achieve this is primarily through early elections. After the early elections, by returning to the founding values of the Republic, we will reach those beautiful days together through the rule of law, the system of checks and balances, and an independent judiciary."

"YOU PUT THEM IN JAIL FIRST, THEN YOU LOOK FOR EVIDENCE"

All of this is to intimidate. Release Mayor Ekrem, our elected mayors, and Mahir Polat. Ümit Özdağ says, 'Either try me or release me.'

Either release him so he can defend himself, or try him openly on TRT; if there is a crime, let the whole nation see it, I challenge you! What more is there to say? Everything will be very beautiful."
