Double investigation into Özel from Ankara and Istanbul! He reacted sharply: 'There is no turning back from this'

An investigation was launched yesterday against Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel due to the remarks he made regarding Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor Akın Gürlek. In the statement made by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was stated that the grounds for the investigation were "threatening a judicial officer to prevent them from performing their duty" and "publicly insulting a public official due to their duty."

SECOND INVESTIGATION COMES FROM ANKARA

The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has also launched an investigation into Özel due to his remarks about Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor Akın Gürlek.

Speaking to TELE1, the CHP leader reacted sharply to the investigations.

"IF THEY GET TOUGHER, I WILL CONTINUE TO GET TOUGHER"

Stating, "I am saying exactly what they understand. Let those who need to receive the message from here receive it. The knife is at the bone. There is no turning back from this," Özel noted the following:

After this point, if they engage in such dishonorable acts, if they continue to play with our honor, if they slander, if a fair trial regime is not established... If they get tougher, I will continue to get tougher. I will do whatever they understand from this. After this point, there is no turning back from this.

"THE ANKARA CHIEF PUBLIC PROSECUTOR IS ALSO TAKING REVENGE"

Regarding the second investigation opened in Ankara, Özel noted the following:

One of those investigations is the one Akın Gürlek opened against me out of his own ambition. Let him open it, there is nothing to be done. But the second investigation is a very nice act of revenge. Akın Gürlek had Ümit Özdağ detained in Ankara while he was eating and brought to Istanbul because of a speech he made in Antalya. This is an insult to these Antalya and Ankara chief prosecutors. Because of his jurisdiction, Akın Gürlek cannot even look at Kartal. Ümit Özdağ spoke in Antalya, and the Ankara Chief Prosecutor says, 'I am detaining you from your place of duty.' The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor is taking revenge on him by opening an investigation into a speech I made in Istanbul, teaching him a lesson. The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor is not doing anything irregular again. Since my place of duty is Ankara, he is authorized again. But he was never authorized regarding this Ümit Özdağ issue."

Some highlights from Özel's remarks are as follows:

"A person named Aziz İhsan Aktaş has become a confessor. This person was called a criminal organization leader. He is currently outside. A criminal organization leader is sent home because he confessed to a crime. The leader accuses this person, accuses that person, and goes home.

Tayyip Erdoğan was tried for all these accusations. He was not taken from his home for a single day, he was not kept in custody. The verdict was finalized, he was sent off with drums and pipes. "I AM DEFENDING THE INNOCENT, TAYYİP ERDOĞAN DEFENDED THE THIEF"

Expressing that Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is in prison, has had high morale since the first day, Özel continued as follows:

"He is preparing to be the president in the next election. Extremely motivated. They are trying to prove the 'Ekrem İmamoğlu criminal organization' constructs. They are trying to create evidence to reach the target. When it first started, they searched for the people Ekrem President sold apartments to. Then they attempted this coup. They raided his father's house, they raided his summer house. How did shoeboxes and money counting machines come out of their houses? I am defending the innocent, Erdoğan defended the thief on December 17-25.

At this point we have reached, this prosecutor believed that I would find safes and money. He came and failed. He started with false witnesses... There is no concrete evidence. WHAT IS ERDOĞAN'S GOAL?

Regarding the early election, Özel commented, "Neither Özgür Özel nor Erdoğan can decide on an early election. The people themselves decide." Özel continued as follows:

"I say to everyone in Turkey; if we are going to protect democracy, if we are going to bring about an early election, if 4 million, 5 million people in a square say 'early election' without saying 'I don't like this side of yours, I don't like that side of yours,' and resist, if they come not to return when necessary, that ballot box will come. We expect democrats who object to the one-man regime, to the lack of elections, and to the lack of ballot boxes to be part of this struggle."
