Social media spat between Kılıçdaroğlu and Erdoğan: 'We know you from your intention to give away land in Cyprus'

Former CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu has responded to a social media post by AKP President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

In a statement on his social media account, Kılıçdaroğlu addressed Erdoğan, saying, "We know you from your intention to give away land in Cyprus. We know you from your co-chairmanship of the Greater Middle East Project. Your prayers for the safety of American soldiers entering Iraq are still in our memory... We even saw you deceive our nation during the election process with fake and edited videos."

"WE WILL NOT NORMALIZE"

In his statement reacting to Erdoğan, Kılıçdaroğlu continued as follows:

"We know you from your pleas of 'Let this longing end...', from your instructions to 'Son, zero the money,' from the bribe-taking ministers you made ambassadors, and from the 'ring on your finger'... We know you from our 418 billion dollars of money you handed over to your cronies, from the 'gang of five' you allowed to rob our people, and from drug and mafia barons making our homeland their home. We know what you are from your filling our country with millions of refugees and from you telling the thousands of children we educated and raised, 'If they go, let them go.' For our murdered women, our hopeless youth, our people who cannot make ends meet, our patients who cannot receive treatment, our children who have been harassed, raped, and murdered, our people who committed suicide due to poverty, our fathers who are always forgetful, and our mothers who are always full! For every citizen of this country, for justice, for the people, we will NOT SOFTEN and we will NOT NORMALIZE..."

"GO TO ANOTHER DOOR"

In his statement, Kılıçdaroğlu said, "You changed and transformed the Has Party along with Numan Kurtulmuş, the Democrat Party of that period with Süleyman Soylu, the MHP with Devlet Bahçeli, Meral Akşener, Sinan Oğan, and many others."

Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu concluded his statement by saying, "Know this well; the Republican People's Party will always be before you as the last fortress that cannot be taken over and will be on the path to power. Go to another door!"

WHAT DID ERDOĞAN SAY?

AKP President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said in a social media post yesterday, "As we strive to expand the dialogue between the government and the opposition, those who have fed on tension for years are doing their best to prevent it. I would like to say this to them: If you say 'I want to be of some benefit to Turkey,' do not stand in the way; we do not want any other favor from you."

Targeting Kılıçdaroğlu, Erdoğan stated, "As for the former chairman who was ousted from his seat last year, he is constantly lashing out from social media out of the resentment of being cast aside. Just as he did when he was at the head of his party, he is trying to keep himself on the agenda by polarizing the nation and straining the political climate. At a time when sounds of conflict are coming from all four corners of our region, he refuses to allow Turkey's political atmosphere to soften, normalize, and for tensions to decrease with his poisonous language and rhetoric."
