Wi-Fi 7 is here; what does it offer?
The Wi-Fi Alliance has begun issuing Wi-Fi 7 certifications for various devices. This ensures that these devices will work together compatibly.
Wi-Fi technology also has certain standards, and these standards change over time. The Wi-Fi Alliance has begun approving official certifications for Wi-Fi 7, the newest and most advanced version of Wi-Fi. This new version will not only provide faster connections but will also bring some important changes.
FASTER AND MORE POWERFUL
According to the report by Webtekno, Kevin Robinson, CEO of the Wi-Fi Alliance, made a statement on the subject. He stated that Wi-Fi 7 is the first generation built from the ground up for 6 GHz connectivity. The first models to provide connectivity in this range were Wi-Fi 6E devices. Although there are currently Wi-Fi 7 models from companies like Netgear, TP-Link, and Eero on the market, these devices are not officially certified.
Another feature coming with Wi-Fi 7 will be MLO (Multi-Link Operation). Thanks to this feature, two or more of the 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz connections will be used simultaneously for our Wi-Fi connection, resulting in a more stable connection. With MLO, our connection speed will also increase.
Modems using Wi-Fi 7 will also support devices with previous versions of connectivity, but older devices are not expected to be able to fully utilize Wi-Fi 7. Nevertheless, new-generation computers, phones, and other devices will come compatible with Wi-Fi 7.
