Israeli Defense Minister Gallant assesses the course of the war

Gallant made a statement regarding Israel's attacks in the Gaza Strip during a press conference.

Stating that the "intense phase" of the ground offensive in the northern Gaza Strip has ended, Gallant noted that the "intense phase" of the attacks in the south will also end soon.

Gallant argued that "only military pressure on Hamas" would be effective for a new hostage exchange, and stated that they have cut off the roads leading to the city of Rafah.

"IT WILL BE GOVERNED BY PALESTINIANS"

Expressing that "political indecision could harm the progress of military operations," Gallant noted the following regarding the post-attack period in the Gaza Strip:

"The future government in Gaza must grow out of the Gaza Strip. Gaza will be governed by Palestinians. The end of the military operation must be linked to a political action."

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in statements he has made many times before, had expressed that the goal of the war was to destroy Hamas and that he was against a "Palestinian administration" being in charge in Gaza after the war.
