In a statement from the British government, it was stated that the duo is being honored for their services to cinema.
According to BBC reports, Nolan won the 'Best Director' Oscar at the 96th Academy Awards held this month for his biographical film about the theoretical physicist Oppenheimer, known as the inventor of the atomic bomb.
The film, which also bears Emma Thomas's signature as producer, returned from the ceremony with a total of 7 awards, including 'Best Picture'.
