Citizen from Mardin makes a call: 'This place is waiting to be discovered'

Historical structures remaining from civilizations that once ruled in the village of Yurderi in Mardin's Kızıltepe district are waiting to be brought into tourism. Hasan Ortekin, one of the village residents, appealed to the authorities, saying, "We have a Chaldean church, caves, and many historical sites. It is a village of great importance in terms of tourism."

Yurderi village in Mardin's Kızıltepe district is home to caves, water cisterns, wells, a church, and rock tombs remaining from the civilizations that once ruled there, all of which are waiting to be brought into tourism.
Village resident Hasan Ortekin stated that the village's history is even older than that of Mardin, noting that their village has always attracted attention due to its abundance of water.

'VERY IMPORTANT IN TERMS OF TOURISM'

Expressing that the history of the area dates back to ancient times, Ortekin said, "We have a Chaldean church, caves, and many historical sites. We want our state authorities to discover this place. It is a village of great importance in terms of tourism. We would be very happy if our state took action immediately regarding its historical significance.

Many tribes lived in our village in the past. Many of our Syriac and Christian citizens visit here twice a year and explore the surrounding churches. Our village is very rich in terms of history," he said.

In Yurderi village, where the Mediterranean climate is known to prevail, many products such as olives, barley, and corn are grown.
