İlkim Karaca had paid the collateral: 'Cem Karaca's Tears' film removed from theaters

A new development has occurred regarding the film 'Cem Karaca’s Tears', which tells the life story of the artist Cem Karaca, whose unforgettable songs such as 'Tamirci Çırağı', 'Namus Belası', 'Bu Son Olsun', and 'Resimdeki Gözyaşları' are still on everyone's lips.

Cem Karaca's wife, İlkim Karaca, had applied to the Istanbul Intellectual and Industrial Property Rights Court to stop the screening of the film 'Cem Karaca's Tears', which is about the artist's life.

'BEING IGNORED UPSET ME'

Speaking to 12punto, İlkim Karaca said, "I have a sensitivity regarding the accurate portrayal of events. It upset me to be ignored as his wife and legal heir in an important film project about Cem's life. We want to deposit the collateral and have the film removed from theaters."

PAID THE COLLATERAL AMOUNT

This time, the court found İlkim Karaca to be in the right and issued an interim injunction to stop the screenings.

The court requested that İlkim Karaca deposit 3.5 million lira for her request to be accepted. Karaca paid this amount.

FILM REMOVED FROM THEATERS

The film about the life of Cem Karaca was removed from theaters after the collateral was paid by İlkim Karaca.

Following the decision, the production company made the following statement:

"Our film 'Cem Karaca's Tears', which we completed with great effort and care in a manner worthy of the memory of our legendary artist Cem Karaca and entrusted to the audience starting Friday, January 26, 2024, has been halted by an injunction and removed from theaters following the 3.5 million TL collateral deposited into the court by the plaintiff."
