"Game of Thrones" creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss approached former US President Barack Obama for their new series "3 Body Problem," which centers on an alien invasion.

Benioff stated that when they wanted to include the former president for a cameo (a brief appearance by a well-known person in a series or film scene), he sent back a "very funny note."

Benioff shared that the former president wrote in his note, "If there is a real alien invasion, I think I should save myself for that crisis."

Weiss commented on the former US President's note with a touch of humor, saying, "He wants to keep himself safe in case something real happens."

OBAMA IS A BIG FAN OF THE NOVEL THE SERIES IS ADAPTED FROM

According to a report by Variety, it is no coincidence that the invitation was sent to the former president specifically for this series. In a 2017 interview with The New York Times, Obama said he was a huge fan of the novel by Liu Cixin, upon which the series is based.

Obama is also a close follower of Benioff and Weiss's work. During the filming of "Game of Thrones," the President had requested advance screenings of the sixth season from the show's producers.

Since HBO wanted to keep the fate of Westeros under wraps, even journalists and industry insiders were unable to receive the season's episodes in advance at that time.

"3 Body Problem" will premiere on Netflix on March 21.
