Yngwie Malmsteen is coming to Turkey
World-renowned electric guitar virtuoso Yngwie Malmsteen will perform a concert in Turkey after a 21-year hiatus.

Swedish musician Yngwie Malmsteen will take the stage at the Harbiye Cemil Topuzlu Open-Air Theater on July 6.
Malmsteen, who began his music career in 1984 and has released 20 studio albums, was ranked 9th on the "11 greatest electric guitarists of all time" list published by Time magazine in 2009.
HE LAST CAME IN 2003
The famous guitarist, whose wife is Turkish and who expresses his love for Turkish citizens at every opportunity, last performed concerts in Istanbul and Ankara in 2003.
Following the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes that occurred on February 6, 2023, Yngwie Malmsteen conveyed his condolences to the people of Turkey and Syria via his social media account.
WHO IS YNGWIE MALMSTEEN?
Yngwie J. Malmsteen (born June 30, 1963, Stockholm, Sweden) is a Swedish musician and guitar virtuoso.
His real name is Lars Johan Yngve Lannerbäck. Yngwie, who had little interest in music, began playing the guitar at the age of 7 by an interesting coincidence. He became inseparable from the acoustic guitar—which he had not been very interested in until the day Jimi Hendrix died—after watching a program broadcast on television following Hendrix's death and becoming fascinated by Hendrix and his stage performance.
The Fender Stratocaster he would later acquire would become a part of Yngwie J. Malmsteen's identity. By the time he was 10, he could play all the Deep Purple songs. His admiration for Ritchie Blackmore, combined with the classical music culture he was exposed to through his family—especially his older sister Lola Lannerbäck, a talented flutist—led to the emergence of Yngwie J. Malmsteen's unique style.
Baroque era composers Johann Sebastian Bach, Antonio Vivaldi, Tomaso Albinoni, and classical era composers Ludwig van Beethoven, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and Niccolò Paganini deeply influenced Yngwie J. Malmsteen's music and style. As his interest in school and lessons waned day by day, he began to devote all his time to music. His mother, who was aware of his interest in and talent for music, always supported him.
When he turned 15, he began working in a guitar repair shop. A lute brought to the workshop for repair gave him an idea he could try on a guitar; he carved the frets with a file to create a guitar with a scalloped fretboard, just like a lute.
The result was satisfying for Yngwie, and he immediately applied the same process to a new guitar. Although playing with high strings and a scalloped fretboard was difficult, Yngwie adapted to it easily as it was more suitable for the sweep picking technique. Yngwie's style was well-formed in pieces he began composing at this age, such as "Far Beyond The Sun" and "Icarus Dream Suite."
At 18, he recorded a 3-track demo with his friends. His style was extremely unusual for Sweden. Realizing they would not find the interest they hoped for in Sweden, they began sending the demo recordings abroad. Mike Varney, the owner of Shrapnel Music who listened to the demo, invited Yngwie Malmsteen to the United States to join Steeler.
After recording an album with Steeler, Yngwie later joined Alcatrazz. However, Yngwie Malmsteen wanted to express himself better and reveal his own style, so he left Alcatrazz and began his solo career.
His first solo album was "Rising Force." This album climbed to the 60th spot on the music charts and took its place in music history as a neoclassical rock masterpiece. With his performance on this album, Yngwie was nominated for a Grammy in the instrumental rock category.
