After Coldplay and The 1975, the new target of conservatives in Malaysia is the famous musician Ed Sheeran.

The 32-year-old singer-songwriter is scheduled to perform at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium in the capital, Kuala Lumpur, on February 24 as part of his two-year world tour.

However, the opposition Islamic Party has called for the concert to be canceled, objecting to his support for LGBTI rights.

'WILL POLLUTE THE SANCTITY'

In a statement issued by the party, the government was urged to "take a firm stance on the eve of Ramadan," and it was claimed that Sheeran's show would "pollute the sanctity" of the fasting month.

It was emphasized that Sheeran "has a history of supporting the LGBTI ideology, which is strictly rejected by Malaysia."
