5 suspects arrested in armed attack on Serhat Akın

Five out of six suspects detained in connection with the armed attack on former national football player Serhat Akın in Beykoz have been arrested.

The investigation conducted by the Beykoz Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the incident in which Serhat Akın was wounded in the foot by gunfire is ongoing.

The police procedures for the six suspects detained within the scope of the investigation—O.M., who is alleged to have driven the motorcycle; O.D., who is alleged to have fired the weapon; as well as E.Ü., İ.T., Y.G., and M.A.—have been completed.

Following their procedures, the suspects were taken to the Beykoz Courthouse. The six suspects were brought before the prosecutor's office conducting the investigation and, after their statements were taken, were referred to the criminal judgeship of peace with a request for their arrest on charges of "attempted premeditated murder in complicity."

The judgeship decided to arrest five of the referred suspects, while suspect M.A. was released under judicial control measures, including a travel ban and a requirement to sign in.

SUSPECT STATED HE ORGANIZED THE ATTACK FOR 250 THOUSAND LIRAS

It was learned that the suspect O.D., who is alleged to have fired the weapon, stated in his police testimony that H.Ş., who is a fugitive abroad, called him and asked him to shoot Serhat Akın in exchange for 250 thousand liras, and that he carried out the incident upon this request.

It was determined that after the attack, O.D. received the 250 thousand liras and shared it with O.M., who drove the motorcycle.

On the other hand, it was stated that the fugitive suspect H.Ş. is also the perpetrator of a fatal shooting that took place in Kumburgaz last June.

Efforts to apprehend the suspects H.Ş. and M.A., for whom arrest warrants have been issued, are continuing.
