It was claimed he had gambling debts... Response to allegations from Serhat Akın's lawyer: Suspects referred to the courthouse

A new statement has been issued by the lawyers of former football player and football commentator Serhat Akın regarding the armed attack carried out against him. Following claims that the attack on Akın was motivated by "gambling debts," his lawyers categorically denied these allegations.

In the statement made by Serhat Akın's lawyers, it was noted that the investigation into the incident is continuing meticulously. The lawyers emphasized that the allegations appearing on social media regarding their client's involvement in any crime do not reflect the truth.

While it was stated that the motive for the attack has not yet been clarified, it was noted that the perpetrators and the reasons for the attack will be revealed once the investigation is completed. The lawyers reminded the public not to give credence to misinformation.

“Public Announcement

As is known, our client was subjected to an armed attack on 26.09.2024, and the perpetrators have been apprehended through the intensive efforts of our law enforcement agencies, and the investigation continues to be conducted in detail.

This organized attack is being investigated meticulously by our state, and all evidence collected on this matter is present in the investigation file. We have full confidence in our state regarding the continuation of the investigation. Apart from this, all allegations regarding our client are baseless and represent an attempt to divert the attack he suffered in other directions.

The purpose for which this attack was carried out and its underlying reasons will emerge as a result of the ongoing investigation. The subject matter appearing on social media has no connection to our client and is far from the truth. While the pain of the attack our client has suffered is still fresh, our expectation from the public is not to give credence to matters for which there is no evidence regarding our client in the investigation file.

Finally, in order to prevent the information pollution occurring in the public sphere and the unfounded accusations made against Serhat Akın, and to ensure that the effective investigation conducted by the relevant institutions of our state is not harmed, we find ourselves compelled to make this statement upon our client's request.

SUSPECTS REFERRED TO THE COURTHOUSE

Six people detained in connection with the incident in which former football player and football commentator Serhat Akın was injured in Istanbul have been referred to the Beykoz Courthouse following the completion of their procedures at the police station.
