AKP Diyarbakır MP Galip Ensarioğlu made assessments regarding the current agenda following the visit of the DEM Party delegation to his party. Ensarioğlu stated that if the PKK lays down its arms, Turkey could hold talks with the PYD.

According to the report by İlyas Akengin from Amida Haber, Ensarioğlu expressed that violence and weapons no longer have legitimacy in Turkey and that they constitute an obstacle to the search for solutions. Emphasizing that the call to lay down arms means the end of the armed presence in Turkey, Ensarioğlu stated that the end of violence would facilitate the process.

'AN IMPORTANT STEP FOR PEACE AND STABILITY'

Ensarioğlu explained that Turkey did not previously view the PYD as a terrorist organization and that support was provided to the PYD during the Kobani process, but that the PKK's tutelage over the PYD and the threat elements pushed Turkey to take precautions. Ensarioğlu stated that negotiations with the PYD could be possible after disarmament and that this could be a positive step for regional peace and stability.
