AKP's Şamil Tayyar reveals the source of the 'Şimşek has resigned' claim

Former AKP MP Şamil Tayyar commented on the claims that Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek had resigned, stating: "Unfortunately, those who feed those manipulating the markets with the lie that 'Şimşek has resigned' are mostly masked friends on the inside."

Democrat Party (DP) Deputy Chairman and Istanbul MP Cemal Enginyurt claimed in a post on his social media account yesterday evening (August 23) that Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek had resigned.

In his post, Enginyurt stated, "Borsa Istanbul did not fall for no reason today. Clearly, there is a fight among the 'gang of five'. Mehmet Şimşek has resigned. The country will be in flames on Monday."

'THE SCENARIOS ARE NOT TRUE'

Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek denied the resignation claims in question with the words, "It seems the official statements made were not enough, so let me write it here as well! I have not resigned. The scenarios being circulated are not true."

On the other hand, the Capital Markets Board (SPK) also announced that an investigation has been launched into social media accounts that misled stock market investors and caused them losses through the baseless resignation news regarding Şimşek. Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç stated that an investigation has been initiated.

Responding to the SPK's statement, Enginyurt said, "You will also summon to court those who have filed criminal complaints against me, as well as Ünsal Ban, Ali Fuat Taşkesenlioğlu, Zehra Taşkesenlioğlu, Korkmaz Karaca, Serkan Taranoğlu, and all others who have names. We will talk about what is going on with public offerings, those who are banned and have their bans lifted in a week, and stocks that hit the floor."

'MOSTLY MASKED FRIENDS ON THE INSIDE'

Former AKP MP Şamil Tayyar also posted about the claims that Şimşek had resigned.

"Unfortunately. Those who feed those manipulating the markets with the lie that 'Şimşek has resigned' are mostly masked friends on the inside," said Tayyar, adding, "They have a double agenda, one official and one unofficial view. What is more dangerous is that this insincere attitude is becoming increasingly widespread and accepted. They do not express their objections openly; they try to score points by going behind one's back. They are devious. This is also a problem that Minister Şimşek must overcome, in addition to the difficulties in the economy."
