The X (Twitter) account of journalist Furkan Karabay, who was arrested due to his social media posts and a video he prepared on YouTube, has been blocked.
Karabay was detained yesterday morning on charges of 'insulting the President' and 'targeting individuals who have served in the fight against terrorism,' with his YouTube video and social media posts cited as the grounds.
Following his processing at the police station, Karabay was referred to court with a request for his arrest and was subsequently jailed.
'I REFUSE TO MAKE A DEFENSE'
In his statement to the judge, Furkan Karabay said, 'This is the third time I have come to the courthouse, and I have left twice after being arrested. My purpose here is to stand against those who have formed a gang while wearing robes under the guise of being members of the judiciary. I refuse to make a defense.'
Following Karabay's arrest, his X (formerly Twitter) account was blocked.
