Journalist Furkan Karabay has been detained on charges of "targeting individuals involved in counter-terrorism" and "insulting the President."
The grounds cited for the detention were the videos Karabay produced on YouTube and his social media posts.
Following Karabay's detention, the organized posts made by 'Aktrolls' on social media drew attention.
It was observed that a large number of accounts were making copy-paste posts stating, "Furkan Karabay, who targeted state officials fighting terrorism with his posts on digital media, has been detained."
Trolls, who conduct perception operations on social media platforms—primarily X—and make posts in favor of the government while targeting certain institutions and individuals, have this time targeted journalist Furkan Karabay.
