Arrested over a street interview: 76-year-old Nermin K. has been released

76-year-old Nermin K., who was arrested on charges of 'insulting the president' following a street interview she gave to the YouTube channel Sokak Kedisi, has been released. The news was announced by CHP Istanbul Provincial Chair Özgür Çelik.

76-year-old Nermin K., who was arrested and sent to prison on charges of 'insulting the president' due to her remarks in a street interview with the YouTube channel Sokak Kedisi, has been released. 

The news was announced by CHP Istanbul Provincial Chair Özgür Çelik. In a statement made via his social media account, Çelik used the following expressions: 

'WE WILL GET RID OF THIS TYRANNICAL ORDER'

"Nermin Hanım, who had been held in prison for 8 days on charges of insulting the president, has been released. Throughout her detention, we closely followed her process with our lawyers and legal commission. We wish her and her family a speedy recovery. Let this be our promise to our elders; the early election ballot box will come, and we will get rid of this tyrannical order together."
