Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Deputy Chairman Semih Yalçın issued a written statement following the meeting between AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, and Ayşe Ateş, the wife of the murdered Sinan Ateş.

Targeting journalists in his statement, Yalçın said the following:

“Media organizations that market their screens to leftist journalists, such as Halk TV, TV 100, and Sözcü TV, are enabling MHP-opposing types like Barış Yarkadaş, Bahar Feyzan, Ali Kemal Erdem, and Osman Sert to appear on screen and attack our party.

Journalist Abdulkadir Selvi, who has MHP-enmity encoded in his subconscious, also joins the choir of MHP-opponents voluntarily from time to time, as per his nature and character.

Representing a unique version of sedition and discord in the media, Selvi moves between sides like a live bomb ready to explode.

Selvi is with those whose morality, not conscience, is bleeding. Some of the types appearing in the leftist press try to create a perception against the MHP by assuming roles as CIA agents who gather intelligence on every subject, some as policy experts(!), some as sociologists(!), and some as expert witnesses(!). Meanwhile, journalists of conscience and fairness who attempt to defend the MHP are subjected to mobbing and lynching. These leftist journalists, emboldened by the inflated results of the local elections, have entered a race in their opposition to the MHP.”

REACTION FROM AYŞE ATEŞ

One of the names reacting to the expressions used by MHP's Yalçın in his statement, such as 'an attempt is being made to create a perception against the MHP,' was Ayşe Ateş, the wife of the murdered former Ülkü Ocakları President Sinan Ateş.

Ateş stated that the file prepared for the trial to be held in July contains the names of MHP members and lashed out at Yalçın with these words:

"When you look at Semih Yalçın's statements, you conclude that he has either never glanced at the file or he is not in his right mind. There is no other explanation for him to speak this way when the file treats Ülkü Ocakları and MHP members as murder suspects from beginning to end."
