CHP Spokesperson Yücel issues 'journalist' warning to MHP's Yalçın

CHP has issued a sharp response to Yalçın's statements targeting journalism, journalists, and media organizations.

Disturbed by the reporting on the Sinan Ateş murder, Semih Yalçın claimed that the "Marxist press is trying to sow discord between the MHP and the AK Party," and targeted several journalists, including names such as Barış Yarkadaş, Bahar Feyzan, and Ali Kemal Erdem.

In his statement, where he reacted by saying, "Edip Semih Yalçın's lynching policy and pressure on the Turkish press have become tiresome," CHP's Yücel stated, "If even a single hair on the heads of the journalists mentioned in the statement is harmed, we will hold Semih Yalçın responsible for it."

The full text of Yücel's post is as follows:

"MHP Deputy Chairman Edip Semih Yalçın, emboldened by the superior success the MHP achieved in the March 31 local elections, has apparently chosen to continue his career as a screenwriter.

Taking all criticism from the opposition press, including recent political history, personally, Edip Semih Yalçın has entered a psychological state as if the whole world has conspired to dig a pit for the MHP.

With his usual tone, which reeks of malice, hatred, and lumpenism, this individual, who attempts to lecture our party—which has nationalism as one of its six principles—on nationalism, and who targets journalists, the press, and media organizations whose only concern is to practice their profession; is trying to muddy the waters with sophistry and fallacies, both sending a message to judicial authorities regarding the Sinan Ateş case and targeting journalists who are striving to shed light on the murder and inform the public. While doing so, he distorts the political events of the 60s and 70s to accuse our party.

One of the murder suspects of the former Ülkü Ocakları Chairman Sinan Ateş, to whom you even begrudged a condolence message from your family, is caught in the house of your former deputy, yet you shamelessly say that no MHP member is named in the indictment.

"HE SHOULD OPEN AND WATCH IT AGAIN"

The clearest proof that we are against all coups is the speech our Chairman, Mr. Özgür Özel, made under the roof of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) on the night of July 15. He should open and watch it again.

It is a mystery what reaction the MHP gave on the night of July 15 when our Chairman called for the assembly to open and went to the assembly, when they arrived at the assembly, and when they joined the common stance shown against the coup attempt.

We would like to remind those who dare to put the CHP in the same sentence as a coup; the statements on the official websites of the parties of those who glorify the People's Alliance with praises like 'The People's Alliance was established on the night of July 15, we fought in the streets together' still remain: 'The invitation of the people to the streets and their potential conflict with the Turkish military stands before us as a grave danger. It is unthinkable for the Idealist movement to take to the streets and serve the conditions of a civil war.'

"STOP TARGETING"

Stop naming institutions like Halk TV, TV 100, and Sözcü TV, and journalists who perform their profession in an honorable, respectable, and dignified manner, and stop targeting press members and media outlets!

"IF HARM COMES, WE WILL HOLD SEMİH YALÇIN RESPONSIBLE"

If even a single hair on the heads of the journalists mentioned in the statement is harmed, we will hold Semih Yalçın responsible for it.

If the MHP does not make a statement on this matter, we will accept Semih Yalçın's statement as the statement of the MHP.

According to Semih Yalçın, everyone in the opposition is heartless, immoral to the point of bleeding morality, everyone is a PKK member, everyone is a terrorist, or at best, a degenerate!

Edip Semih Yalçın's lynching policy and pressure on the Turkish press have become tiresome!

This individual, who tries to convince himself that the results obtained in the local elections are still an inflation, can only be successful in screenwriting with this attitude of living in a fantasy world, disconnected from reality.

Being disturbed by our Chairman Mr. Özgür Özel's meeting with President Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the steps taken towards normalization in the country does not befit state decorum, the gravity of politics, or the MHP, to which the Idealist community is devoted.

If you think you will get away from the Sinan Ateş case with this aggressive attitude, you are sorely mistaken. The truth has a bad habit of coming out. In the inevitable end, everyone involved in the murder of Sinan Ateş will get their share from justice, and Sinan Ateş's wife and children will find some peace! This is our only wish, and our trust in justice is complete!"
