Ege Akersoy was arrested after punching İsmail Aydemir, who was carrying a 'tawhid' flag at the 'Mercy to Our Martyrs, Support for Palestine, Curse on Israel' rally organized by foundations and associations close to the AKP.
Ege Akersoy's lawyer, Sevdagül Tunçer, addressed the rector of Yıldız Technical University in a post on her social media account and criticized the threatening of students through a social media account.
Stating that Yıldız Technical University students who wanted to issue a statement of support for Akersoy were threatened by the school administration through a newly opened social media account, Lawyer Sevdagül Tunçer included the post in question and made the following statement:
"Yıldız Technical students want to issue a statement of support for Ege to regain his freedom. The school administration is opening a new account to threaten students, and the rector is retweeting it. Whose rector are you? Pull yourselves together. Defend your students' right to education!"
