The post in which Erkan requested to be 'relieved' of her duties is as follows:

As is known to the public, I have been serving as the Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey since June 8, 2023.

As a child of this homeland who was born, raised, and educated in these lands for which a price has been paid for every inch, I came to my country and took up my post without considering my personal circumstances when this sacred duty was entrusted to me. At that time, I was, of course, aware of the difficulties of maintaining such an intense duty as the mother of a child who had not yet turned one. In order to serve our state and our nation, I have worked tirelessly day and night until today. At this point, our economic program has begun to bear fruit. The increase in our reserves and the indicators regarding economic data and the main trend of inflation are proof of this success.

Despite all these positive developments, as is known to the public, a major character assassination campaign has been organized against me recently. In order to prevent my family and, furthermore, my innocent child, who has not even turned one and a half years old yet, from being further affected by this process, I have requested from our President to be relieved of my duty, which I have carried out with honor since the first day.

I owe a debt of gratitude to our Minister of Treasury and Finance, who enabled me to experience the pride of being the first female governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey, and to my colleagues with whom I have carried out this duty for approximately 9 months and who have each worked with great devotion day and night.

In particular, after my 22 years of management and banking experience in the private sector in America, I express my gratitude and appreciation to our President, who offered me the opportunity to serve my country and my nation, which is the greatest legacy I will leave to my child, and who never withheld his support throughout my tenure.

Respectfully.
