Minister Şimşek issued an official press statement following Hafize Gaye Erkan's resignation announcement. Minister of Treasury and Finance Şimşek described the resignation of Erkan, whose name has been on the agenda for some time, as a personal choice.

In his press statement, Şimşek used the following expressions:

Our economic program, carried out under the leadership of our President Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, continues uninterrupted and with determination.

Our President's support and confidence in our economic team and the program we are implementing are complete.

The decision taken by the former President of the Central Bank, Ms. Hafize Gaye Erkan, is entirely personal and is her own discretion; I respect this decision and thank her for her valuable services and contributions to our country.

I wish success to the newly appointed President of the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye and their team, in line with my recommendation.

In this framework, as a team, we will continue to move forward with firm steps toward our goal of price stability in strong cooperation and coordination.
