CHP reacts to investigation launched over boycott posts: 'Calls have yielded results'

The CHP has issued a swift response to the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, which launched an ex officio investigation into those who called for and spread boycotts on social media.

CHP Spokesperson Deniz Yücel stated regarding the investigation, "The spokesperson for the organizer of polarization, who has not hesitated to sow seeds of malice and hatred in society for 23 years and has no precedent in our thousands of years of history, should know well that 'political fanaticism' and 'social divisiveness' are methods that the AKP has been applying for years."

The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an ex officio investigation into divisive rhetoric known in the public eye as "boycott" calls, which aim to prevent a segment of the public from engaging in economic activity on social media platforms, as well as against the individuals spreading this rhetoric, on charges of Hate and Discrimination and Inciting the Public to Hatred and Hostility.

Republican People's Party (CHP) Spokesperson Lawyer Deniz Yücel made a post on his social media account regarding the investigation in question.

Deniz Yücel made the following statement:

"The spokesperson for the organizer of polarization, who has not hesitated to sow seeds of malice and hatred in society for 23 years and has no precedent in our thousands of years of history, should know well that 'political fanaticism' and 'social divisiveness' are methods that the AKP has been applying for years. The Republican People's Party, as the founding party, is the unifying power of Turkey. It is the guarantor of our Constitution, fundamental rights and freedoms, and democracy.

The reason why the AKP spokesperson and their trolls are attacking our party and our Chairman with foaming mouths is that Mr. Özgür Özel's boycott calls against firms that are financiers of the AKP and media outlets that are the mouthpiece of the government have yielded results.

Boycotting is a right... The boycott against your financiers and your mouthpieces will continue!"
