CHP supports Türk-İş's minimum wage demand

The Minimum Wage Determination Commission met for the third time. Appearing before the press after the meeting, Türk-İş Vice President Ramazan Ağar had said, "No figure has been determined." Following the reactions, Türk-İş made a new statement at 16:00, saying, "Our minimum wage demand is 29,583 TL. A raise made without adding a welfare share on top of the inflation rate cannot be livable. If it is not 29,583 TL, we are not at the table."

Connecting to Sözcü TV, CHP Group Deputy Chairman Ali Mahir Başarır made evaluations regarding the minimum wage demand announced by Türk-İş. Stating, "We find Türk-İş's demand to be correct," Başarır used the following expressions: 

“We have also made a calculation more or less like this. If millions of workers in this country have been working for minimum wage for a long time, one should be ashamed of this. There is a reality of Turkey. Today, during the budget negotiations, comments that do not coincide with the reality of Turkey are being made. Ministers come. But unfortunately, they look and cannot see the facts. They did not even answer the questions asked about the minimum wage and retirees. Therefore, we find Türk-İş's demand to be correct and we reiterate our demand for 30 thousand liras. Even discussing the minimum wage is a shameful situation. I hope they do not make this a matter of bargaining, but it seems they will.”
