The US Department of Defense announced on Thursday night that a Turkish UCAV was shot down by a US F-16 near Al-Hasakah in northwestern Syria.

The Ministry of National Defense initially claimed in a statement that the UCAV did not belong to the Turkish Armed Forces, but the Ministry of Foreign Affairs acknowledged today that the UCAV had been shot down.

Following these developments, retired Admiral Türker Ertürk stated during a live broadcast on Halk TV that the American F-16 that shot down the UCAV took off from Incirlik Air Base, saying, ''Who shot down this UCAV? An American F-16 taking off from Incirlik shot it down. Where did it take off from? From Incirlik Air Base. You are conducting operations across the border for the security of Anatolia, and that UCAV is being shot down by another aircraft taking off from these very lands.''
