Claim that ISIS claimed responsibility for the Santa Maria attack in Sarıyer

Two masked attackers opened fire on worshippers during Sunday mass at the Santa Maria Church in Sarıyer, Istanbul.

While there was great panic in the church during the incident, one person who was targeted by the bullets lost their life.

Two people were apprehended within the scope of the large-scale investigation launched following the attack.

Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya announced that the two suspects who carried out the armed attack have been captured.

CLAIM THAT ISIS CLAIMED RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE ATTACK

Sources known for their proximity to the terrorist organization ISIS claimed that "ISIS has taken responsibility for the church attack."

ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack via the Amaq News Agency.

In the statement, it was noted that the suspects retreated safely after the attack, and it was stated that the attack was carried out in response to the call by ISIS leaders to target Jews and Christians everywhere.
