Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announces: 2 individuals who carried out the church attack have been captured

An armed attack was carried out during Sunday mass at the Santa Maria Italian Church located in Sarıyer, Istanbul.

Two masked individuals who arrived at the church opened fire. As a result of the gunfire, a person named C.T., who was among those attending the mass, lost their life.

ATTACKERS CAPTURED

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that the 2 murder suspects have been captured.

Minister Yerlikaya stated the following in a post on his social media account:

"The 2 murder suspects who caused the death of our citizen named Tuncer Cihan during Sunday mass at the Santa Maria Church in Sarıyer this morning have been captured. I congratulate our Istanbul Police Department and our heroic police officers who identified and captured the perpetrators. I once again extend my condolences to the family and loved ones of our citizen who lost his life."
