It has been learned that the commissioners and police officers who conducted the operation against the Dilan-Engin Polat couple in Istanbul, including one chief inspector, have been reassigned.

Following the reassignment of the prosecutor who led the operation, Gökalp Kürkçü, the reassignment of the police officers has also become a topic of public discussion.

According to a report by journalist Barış Terkoğlu, C.N.G., who was detained during the operation against the Polats and whose mobile phone was seized during a search of their home, was released under judicial control.

However, after C.N.G. was released, their mother was called using the mobile phone that was being kept at the Istanbul Police Financial Crimes Bureau.

The caller demanded that all Bitcoins in C.N.G.'s account be sent to a Bitcoin account provided in exchange for not sharing the photos and information on the mobile phone on social media, stating, "You have 10 minutes for this."

C.N.G., who was subjected to attempted extortion through blackmail, went to the prosecutor's office after the phone call and filed a criminal complaint.

GAVE TESTIMONY, PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE LAUNCHED AN INVESTIGATION

C.N.G., who is closely involved with cryptocurrencies, went to the prosecutor's office and gave testimony after the incident. In their testimony, stating that their mobile phone had been seized and their SIM card was still inside it, C.N.G. noted the following:

“On the morning of November 5, 2023, at around 05:30, I was released by the Criminal Judgeship of Peace under judicial control. On the evening of the same day, because I was sleep-deprived, while I was sleeping at 00:02, my mother's mobile phone was called from the mobile phone number 0550 ... 25 25. My sister answered the phone, but the person did not say anything and hung up.

Two minutes later on the same date, my mother's phone was called again by my mobile phone, which had been seized as part of the investigation and was under examination. My sister answered the phone again. The male person on the other end told my sister, 'If you don't deposit it into my Bitcoin account (at a number we cannot remember) within 10 minutes, I will expose what is on your phone.'

Three minutes after this call, they called my mother's phone again. This time my mother answered the phone. My mother told the person on the other end that what they were doing was a crime and that she would file a complaint.”

Zafer Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ posted on his social media account following the reassignment of the police officers.

Özdağ said, "Another scandal! In the Istanbul Financial Crimes Bureau, the special team (5 commissioners, 3 officers) looking into the Dilan Polat file has been abruptly removed from duty and exiled to the most remote police stations. It is alleged that they were removed from duty because they were about to detain 40-50 more people, including A.I. If true, it is a great shame."
