According to sources speaking to Hazar Dost from 10Haber; the detention process for the Polat couple began with a phone call from Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya to Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç. According to the sources, high-level directors from the Istanbul Police Department informed Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya about the prolonged process and the fact that no detention order had been issued for the couple. Yerlikaya stated he would look into the situation and spoke with Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç. Following the conversation between Yerlikaya and Tunç, an arrest warrant was issued for the Polat couple, and 20 people, including the couple, were taken into custody on November 1.

IT BEGAN WITH THE MASAK REPORT

In the preliminary report prepared by MASAK dated October 4, suspicious account movements in the Polats' companies were identified, and it was stated that “due to suspicions of credit card fraud and illegal betting through POS devices obtained on behalf of related institutions regarding the authenticity of sales on internet platforms, it would be possible to resolve these suspicions by examining data obtained from relevant banks and payment institutions; and that the results of further investigation should be handled separately.”

Justice Minister Tunç stated in his remarks on November 3, “Suspicious transactions belonging to these individuals and their companies were identified one by one. Judicial control and detention procedures were carried out.”
