DİSK President Arzu Çerkezoğlu and those accompanying her gathered at the site of the fire in Gayrettepe and chanted various slogans.

In her press statement, Çerkezoğlu said that a worker massacre took place in the heart of Istanbul yesterday.

Stating that they are wondering whether the necessary precautions were taken in the area where the incident occurred, Çerkezoğlu said, "As DİSK, we will follow this process to the end."

EMPHASIS ON 'ORGANIZATION'

Çerkezoğlu noted that it is essential for the field of occupational health and safety to become an area that is entirely inspected and organized by universities, relevant professional organizations, and trade unions.

On the other hand, some NGOs also gathered at the scene regarding the fire at the nightclub in Beşiktaş.

Making a statement on behalf of the group, TMMOB Istanbul Provincial Coordination Board Secretary Seyfettin Avcı expressed that "in order to prevent new massacres, regulations that prioritize human life instead of profit and gain must be implemented."
